There's a coyote curled up on the hearth of the fireplace. She seems mostly unconcerned about her surroundings, tail tucked up over her nose, eyes mostly shut.

Antigone sees her.

And smiles, faintly, from her corner.

Their last encounter was kind of hilarious.

Easy for you to say, dead girl! You totally ruined it!

Coyote doesn't look like she's sulking now, though. More blissed out.

Antigone doesn't quite deal with time anymore, in the traditional sense, and when she's around it she sometimes forgets what to do with it.

Therefore, it is some time before she even thinks about making the decision to get up, and pad across the floor on bare feet to where Coyote is.

(She still doesn't move.

But she's thinking about it.)

"I can hear you thinking from here," Coyote grumbles without opening her eyes. "And did you know that even ghosts have a scent?"

Antigone blinks, surprised.

And laughs softly.

"I expect I smell of asphodel now."

"No. You still smell mostly like you. Just a little more see-through." Shut up, it totally makes sense. Your sense of smell isn't good enough, is all.

"Really?"

Antigone is pleased with that description.

She bites her lip.

"Shall I come see you? I didn't know if you should want me after I ruined your fun."

The coyote lets out a little 'whuff' of breath, her version of a snort. "I mostly got what I wanted. The conclusion of such a plot is not always as enjoyable as the buildup."

That's usually when they start shooting at you.

Antigone snorts, rising, and makes her way among tables and chairs until she reaches Coyote.

"You like causing trouble."

"My dear Antigone," she says. "Surely if there was one thing you could not forget, that would be it?"

I won't ever forget you and I don't know if I'll be happier there, but you won't know.

Antigone smiles slightly, gaze falling on something that is not-quite-Coyote.

"I haven't forgotten anything."

About you, it might be necessary to add. She forgets days and weeks and people she's met-- Coyote's death she recalls, but Blodwen Rowlands is only a dim memory-- but Coyote has remained as constant as a star.

Albeit very far away, sometimes.

"I should be angry at you, but the look on his face was worth it. Tell me princess, did he flirt with you, after? He must have."

She admires Max for his talents with self-delusion, if nothing else.

Her smile widens.

"He offered to fetch me a drink."

There is something faint in her face and tone that might, might just be an echo of mischief.

"He said you were wrong about him and women."

"I was not." Coyote is firm about this. She didn't sleep with him, after all. That should tell you something.

What it should tell you is hard to say. Max's intentions aren't all that different than hers, sometimes.

"Most women want more than competent sex, after all."

Antigone snorts, but also colors slightly.

"I didn't think you were."

A mild, puzzled frown.

"There was something strange about him ..."
