[OOC: Part of the Duet for Claws and Swords plot.]

Moon's in the bar this evening.

She is in her customary position, seated atop a table, her wolves beneath, and she is slowly building a tower out of her tarot cards.

The table, she thinks, is not as comfortable as Norman, nor as talkative, but it will do for now.

tower, moon

Those tables are tall to little five-year-olds. They're hard to peek over.

"Hi! Are you allowed to sit on them?"

The tables, she means.

Moon peers over her table.

"No one has told me not to," she says.

There's a friendly kid's face looking up at Moon. It also happens to be a fox's face, but Lilly's never noticed that aspect of herself before.

"Oh. Maybe you don't have teachers who can tell you that." Pause. "Mrs Jenkins probably wouldn't like it if I sat on tables." Pause. "Can I sit with you? All the small chairs are taken."

"You may sit with me."

Moon smiles.

"I like company."

Ooof!

It's hard getting up onto tables!

Perhaps she should try getting onto the chair first, and then the table.

"Hi," she says again, now that she's on the table. "I'm Lilly." Then, "Wow! I'm really high up! This must be what it's like to be all grown up!"

A laugh, like cold snowfall on a winter's night, erupts from Moon's lips.

"It's just what is like to be high, not a grown up. I'm Moon, Lilly."

"But I can see everything now! Just like Mama can."

She settles down, crossing her legs. From this vantage point, she can see a lot of things five-year-olds can't.

"Moon. I've never heard of that name before. Did your mama name you that?"

Moon shakes her head, adding another card to her tower.

"I have no mother."

She hums softly, smiling at Lilly.

"No mother?"

How can that be?!

"Who tucked you in at night when you were small?"

Daddy, maybe?

Moon giggles pleasantly.

"No. I don't have a mother or a father, for I was never small. I've always been as I am now."

"No parents?"

That's impossible! Everyone has a mommy and a daddy!

"You were always grown up?"

That's impossible, too, even if, when you're a little kid, grown ups always seem like they've ever been grown ups.
