It's self-explanatory, really.

Bobby has made a nice, level strip of ice across the grass by the lake, about 20 meters long and five feet wide. At one end of the strip are slightly over-sized bowling pins made out of ice. No bowling balls are in evidence.

Bobby looks around hopefully for someone willing to play with him.

"Dude, what's... oh, cool!"

Pun not intended.

Bobby looks at Enzo and lifts an eyebrow.

"Did you grow again?"

He swears the kid is a couple of inches taller every time he see him.

Enzo grins and nods. "Five foot two, dude."

"Doesn't it hurt to grow that fast?"

He isn't sure if the odd aches and pains he had at that age were growing pains or his mutant power beginning to change his body.

"No? You just get a little clumsy until you get used to the edit. Why, does growing hurt for humans?"

"Sometimes. They call them growing pains. If you grow fast, your joints and stuff can get achy...my mom used to say she could tell when I was growing, because I'd suddenly start complaining a lot more than usual, and sleep more."

He shrugs.

"Puberty was a whole different ballgame for me, because that's when most mutants' powers start to manifest, so there's other stuff going on in our bodies."

"Ooh. That's tough. You get longer to get used to your changes, though."

"Yeah...it wasn't fun for me while the cold was taking over. There were weeks of feeling like I was freezing to death for no apparent reason. I think Angel had it worse...his bones are hollow, and I don't think they were when he was born. That had to hurt like a son of a...gun."

He's so used to Jean's glares when he swears that he automatically ammends his language before he can say that last word.

"Then the whole growing wings thing..."

"Whoa. Like, from nothing?"

"Most of us aren't born looking or acting different from anyone else. Most of us don't find out we're mutants until something happens to make us get a blood test or something. Hank was born with huge hands and feet, and with a natural acrobatic talent and stuff...but the rest of the team didn't find out until puberty hit."

"Yeah, but, I mean, powers are one thing, but that's like a major part of your body, and it's not even on purpose. Sheesh."

Bobby laughs.

"It's encoded into our DNA...kind of like you get an upgrade every once in a while? We get a huge one, usually all at once that takes a few weeks to finish loading."

That's the best analogy he can think of.

Enzo nods.

"It's still totally random."

"Agreed."

He claps his hands before rubbing them together with glee.

"Now, are you going to try out my body bowling alley?"

Enzo blinks, and stares at the ice lane. Body bowling...

"Ohhhhhh! Alphanumeric!"

"You have two--count 'em--TWO exciting choices for this game. The first choice is to get a running start and propel yourself down the lane toward the pins. The second is to have someone hurl you down. For the second one, we will have to find someone strong enough to do so."

A light of unholy glee fills his eyes for a moment.

"Oooooor I could make a ramp to slide down that would shoot you toward them."
