Out of Milliways:

Paving the Way
Operation: Anchorage

The door opens on a scene of rubble under a late summer sky. A shimmer of heat drifts across the open space for a moment, seemingly a heat phantom as happens sometimes. Then the door closes. The attentive may well note the shimmering phenomenon is still there, but by the time they realize it has the approximate shape of a human being... well. That's about the point when the shimmering stops and a black, slender figure with a featureless faceplate of gold takes its place. It's got a slender, straight sword in one hand and two guns across its back.

And then it has to go and ruin the whole dramatic entrance by pulling the gold faceplate back to reveal Ellen's rather startled and ordinary face. "What do you know," she says. "It worked."

The sword gets returned to its impromptu scabbard (on the opposite hip from her laser pistol- she's starting to feel just a bit awkward, but there's nowhere else to put these things), and she makes her way over to the Bar in search of something reassuringly bland to eat. It's been an unnerving day.

[Tinytag: Ellen (Vault 101 Dweller), Annabelle Newfield. Spoilers for Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage.]
