Last night, Alice kind of sort of let Jane Austen in on her family's best kept secret. She's so good at keeping the secret an actual secret, in Forks, but here, where the fantastical dances around her daily, she can't seem to hold it in.
And it made things easier, to explain what she was to Jane, to explain the cold hands, the matching eyes, the strange demeanor, anything weird could be explained by being a vampire. Well, almost anything.
When she returned home, Edward knew instantly what she had done, and she hadn't wasted time in telling Jasper. After all, she had promised him to try harder in regards to Milliways.
They weren't happy. It's why Alice is sitting in a booth, not at home. Her eyes linger on the book in front of her, but it's obvious she's not actually reading.
