April showers have a sneaky sense of humor.

Especially in Southern California, where the clear, sunny skies keep the populace lulled into a false sense of security.

The heavens had opened while Parker was crossing the back quad, and she had dashed for the door that she thought would admit her to the dining hall.

The door to Milliways has a sneaky sense of humor, too. And Parker is fairly drenched and dripping when she bursts into the bar.

“Good thing I’m not made of sugar,” she mutters. She drops her bag on the nearest table and grabs a handful of napkins to try to squeeze some of the water out of her hair.

[Work may call for slowtime.]
