The quiet is shortly interrupted by baby-babble coming from his recently upgraded niece.

"Hey, it's Uncle Enzo!" says Bob softly to Mairi. "Wanna go see him?"

"Ah!"

Enzo glances up from sorting through his emotional clutter, and a confused smile becomes one of greeting.

"Hey, Bob. Hey, Mairi."

"Hey, Enzo." To Mairi: "Say 'hi' to your uncle, Mairi." He lifts his daughter's hand in a pantomime of waving.

"Insulting someone who can shoot energy beams at you is probably a bad idea," Bob advises, but carefully places Mairi in Enzo's arms anyway.

"It's not an insult when she's a baby," Enzo protests. "It's cute on babies. They're supposed to be fat."

He cradles her gently.

"'Cause she can now." He looks up at Bob, his smile suddenly sunny. "It's all just like she wanted."

"I..." Enzo looks embarrassed, and then his face squinches up in confusion. "It wasn't. But... it doesn't feel as bad as I thought. Weird, mostly. To know she's not here."

Enzo shifts the baby in his arms.

"It's totally buggy, really. I mean, a few days ago we thought she'd never get to go back again. You remember about Vlad?"

Enzo nods. "Danny's sister Jazz came in and told us that Vlad took over the world. There was a giant asteroid on its way, and Vlad said he could stop it, but only if all the leaders surrendered. And they did."
