Jim is engrossed in Starfleet Intelligence reports and his coffee. Yes, he is aware that an attractive redhead is nearby, but somehow he really isn't taking note of her despite her looks.

To most people, the man sitting nearby would appear to only be studying the reports in his hand.

But Saffron is just as aware of his presence as he is of hers, and she inclines her head in his direction after her drink comes to her, hiding the quirk in her mouth with a sip from her glass.

Soon, Jim finishes a rather dull report about trade with Cardassia and the Gorn. He looks up and smiles briefly at the woman.

"Hello."

She returns the smile. It's only fair.

"Hello," she replies, somewhat demurely.

I"m not interrupting something, am I?" She seems shy. As well as very pretty. Though rather young.

Young she may be, but she knows how to look younger.

"Not at all," she insists. "I thought it might be the other way around."

"Reports from Starfleet Command. Necessary reading, but not exactly a thrill a minute." He neglects to note the exact topic, since (inexplicably) what he just read is classified.

"Starfleet?" She tilts her head questioningly. "You're an officer?"

He doesn't look like Alliance, but as she knows perfectly well, appearances can be deceiving.

"Captain. Are you familiar with the fleet?" At home, of course, everyone is (and many know him on sight). Here, he expects otherwise.

"Can't say that I am, really," she confesses, ducking her head with a shy smile.

"But you are from a time with something similar? With space travel?" The clothes tell him nothing about that. Even that she knew he's an officer didn't given how utterly "retro" his current uniform is (compared to what he wore in his youth).

Anyone talking about some kind of Starfleet probably deals with military of some kind.

"In the year 2520," she replies, nodding in answer to his second question.

"Hmmm. From ahead of my time. That's rather unusual, I've found." Indeed, he's only met two people from his own future. "What planet are you from?"

"Oh, here and there," she confesses. "I've never been able to settle down in one place very long."

"Well, were are you from, miss..." She hasn't said her name yet.

Neither has he.

"Oh, did I not...? Forgive me." She smiles in a way that certainly isn't lacking in sincerity, though a decent portion is feigned.

"I'm Clara."
