It's taken a little longer than he hoped, but Andrew Wells is in the bar tonight with a small box from a well-reputed magic shop, containing an item he promised someone last month.

He's sitting at the bar drinking hot cocoa, and looking around for Teddy Altman.

(But he'll talk to anyone!)

Teddy's just returned from visiting one Bart Allen in the infirmary, and he wanders over to the bar to grab a Coke. Looking up, he sees Andrew, and his face visibly brightens. "Hey! How are you?"

Andrew brightens reciprocally, and digs into his pocket with one hand. "Teddy, hey -- sorry it took me so long, but I got the thing!"

"Oh, thank you so much!" Teddy says, peering closer to see what it looks like.

It looks like a little white box.

When Andrew opens the box, it looks something like this (though in closeup, the tiny fleck at the center of the star looks more like this.

"It's fully imbued and powered, and it should work."

"Awesome! Thanks. I'll have Bar credit you from my tab, I guess?"

[[Thanks!]]

"That'd be great," says Andrew cheerfully. "I think I've got the receipt somewhere --"

More pocket-rummaging.

Teddy waits patiently, and tries not to bounce on his toes too much.

(Getting something for Billy is totally a good remedy for family problems.)

He comes up with a slip of paper and hands it over. (The name at the top of the receipt is ALCINA'S THINGS. The price at the bottom is ... not trivial, but not flabbergastingly high either.)

"How's Billy been, by the way? Any further, um ...?"

Teddy's okay with that, and takes it.

"Oh, no. Not really. He's just been having some problems with his magic, a little. He was kind of imprisoned in this alternate dimension known as the Negative Zone, and while he's largely doing okay again, his magic still isn't back. It's will-based, so I think it's going to take a while, maybe, to recover all the way?"

Andrew nods, with a tight-lipped wince. "I've heard of the Negative Zone. How long was he there?"

Teddy thinks. "It was kind of a sliding timescale for a bit since he was able to come into the bar from 42 while I was here, but... maybe a little over a week? Something like that?" He frowns. "I wanted to rescue him sooner, but our leader, Captain America, wanted to make it our last stand."

Which it was, because he surrendered.

(And then gets killed, but Teddy's not there yet.)

(Neither is Andrew.)

"Tell him for me that I hope he's okay, in the long run?"

"Oh! Definitely. Though, to be honest, we're a little more worried about our friend who just got back from his own world--Jay? I was just in to see him... he's messed up pretty bad, too."

"Jay?"

Andrew doesn't know him. (A few possibilities suggest themselves.)

"Yeah. He's... he has superspeed."

"--Oh."

His eyes widen a little.

(He's thinking of this guy.)
