Someone is bored and worried about certain visitors and residents of City 17. How does Annabelle deal with this? By playing dodging games with the Whomping Willow while wearing looted Combine body armor. (Without the helmet, of course. A shotgun shell through the faceplate tends to render a helmet rather unusable ( Read more... )

Enzo will admire them, very much. Actually, if he were a few years older, he'd probably be drooling. (Hey, don't judge him.)

Drool or not, he's watching raptly and making small movements of semiconscious imitation, leaning this way and that as she dodges, flexing arms and legs as she strikes and leaps.

It wouldn't be the first time Annabelle has caused that sort of reaction by a long shot. Although, at least in her earlier years, Annabelle didn't always notice. Joining Æon at 14 resulted in her missing a lot of the how-to's of interactions between the sexes.

The Whomping Willow is going to kill the annoying biped. It looks like Annabelle is doomed for a moment, as all of the limbs converge on her position and the Willow stretches out as far as its trunk will allow. Annabelle just laughs madly as she bends so far backward her torso is nearly on the ground. She grabs hold of one of the branches and uses its thrashing to pull her out of the way of the other limbs. Before it can quite react to the human that is now hanging onto the thrashing limb high in the air, Annabelle has let go. She does a double back flip and sticks her landing just outside of its reach.

"Hello Enzo!"

One... two... Enzo shakes his head and picks his jaw up. "Uh, hi!"

Annabelle grins, she was showing off on purpose. Once a performer, always a performer.

"I figured that I'd better get used to this armor before I have to use it in the field. Whatever the Combine made this stuff out of, it's a lot more flexible than what we used to get back home."

The Whomping Willow is now doing its best 'La la la I'm just a normal tree' impression.

(OOC:...and the player is giggling like a school girl. Poor Enzo.)

Annabelle chooses to take the most innocent interpretation of that statement, for both their sakes. (Especially since at 28 she's nearly old enough to be his mother *cough*.)

"Thank you. It's partly genetics and mostly a lifetime of practice. How's your school work going?"

It's just as well his affections are otherwise occupied. The last thing he needs is another crush on an adult.

Phew, safe/distracting topic. "Pretty good! Classes're interesting this term, so that makes it a lot easier."

Yes, that's a very good thing.

"More practically oriented than theory oriented?" Annabelle guesses. Theory generally equals boring as far as Annabelle is concerned.

"Some of it," he agrees. "Some of it's sort of in-between." Which is still better than entirely theory.

"I was never fond of theory myself. It's important, but generally horribly boring unless weapons or explosions are involved. I'm guessing you've got some form of combat training along with everything else?"

"Two classes every term. Two're other Guardian stuff, and one's gen-ed."

"What types of combat do you study? Your world is rather different from those of humans, after all."

"Different kinds. Unarmed's mostly karate and judo and boxing so far. And we have to learn all different kinds of weapons, but we do the most with guns and swords."

"Swords? I wouldn't have thought there would be much call for those." Annabelle has yet to become familiar with computer games and the prevalence of high fantasy archetypes.

"You get 'em a lot in Games. Anyway, Mouse uses 'em for real and she's great with 'em."
