Xaldin is pacing - not because he's Air and can't stand being still, but rather because he's got a lot of feelings to deal with these days and can't handle being still. He is still in his coat, and gloves, and boots because the atmosphere here is still painful - but he's real.

And that's a wonderful thing.

"Greetings, Xaldin!" Teja says, when he sees him.

Xaldin is air, as ever. He is pacing, as ever; and he very much looks like himself, still.

He only feels somewhat different, when approached, and looked upon.

"Greetings, Teja!" Xaldin calls back, smiling. The difference is so subtle that it can't be told apart with simple words; his smile looks real, where it never did before.

He looks real, where he never did before.

"How do you fare, my friend, now that a few days are past since you gained your heart?" Teja asks, smiling.

Yes, he can feel the difference in Xaldin, clearly.

"Having slept, and baked, and slept again I feel much better." Xaldin says, "Although the important thing is that I feel. I believe that Larxene sent you some of the muffins?"

That brings a true, amused laugh from Teja.

"The muffin-cakes that the Ninja brought were made by you?" Teja says. "I shared them with Charlie, one that has become dear to me, lately. They were good, and full of surprises. One tasted of cheese and seafood!"

Pause. No, he has to ask!

"Why did you make them, and then send them to us?"

"I've made muffins in the morning every morning since I was fourteen." Xaldin says, "It is - there is a thing with my brain chemistry which forces patterns on me. Compulsions, things that I must do even if there is no true reason for them. They call it obsessive compulsive behaviour.

"In ten years as Nobody I did not bake. Twelve muffins a day for approximately ten years came to 44,000 muffins that my brain insisted needed to be made.

"I think in the end she was just throwing them everywhere she could consider they would be used. I am quite glad that you enjoyed them!"

"Fourty-four thousand!" Teja says, shaking his head. "How long did it take you to make them? And where did you get all the grain?"

Pause.

"And yes, we did. Charlie had the ones with chocolate in."

"I don't know, and I don't know." Xaldin admits, "The girls brought ingredients, and I baked. It was like being in a trance until they were done, and then I fell asleep again."

"And so, your heart caught up with all the days that it had missed, in a very literal way," Teja says, nodding. Even with hearts, the former Nobodies seem to still be that -- literal metaphors in so many aspects.

"And now you are all caught up, you will only make twelve a day, as long as you shall live?"

"It did." Xaldin agrees, "Although I'm not exactly the same as I was. No arthritis." he flexes his hands smoothly, "And yes. Twelve a day every morning, or more if I have guests or someone who would like a gift."

"If upon occasion a few come my way," Teja says, "I would be grateful, and give those that have chocolate to my Charlie."

Pause.

"He liked those very much."

"Huh. I did not know I'd made chocolate." Xaldin admits after a while, "I don't usually - my species doesn't like sugar. Fruit sugars, fructose, is what we eat to get a buzz. I will do so, though. You liked the crab and cheese ones?"

"I know not how much chocolate was in it -- I did not try it," Teja admits. "He said it was very sweet, but that might have been the fruit-sugar. And yes, I liked the crab and cheese ones. I like both cheese, and seafood; and they were a surprise to me, as I expected another sweet muffin-cake, like the first we shared -- with some citrus fruit, and poppy seeds."

"If it was chocolate it would have been something for humans and species that enjoy human-like foods." Xaldin says with a laugh, "I think chocolate, except for the most bitter of them, is pretty nasty. I make a lot of savoury ones, my species - had - a greater need for meat than most others. Carnivores who evolved into Omnivores, you see. Feline, very far back. Lemon-poppy isn't bad, though."

He's had a lot of muffins in his life.

"Indeed, I liked the savoury ones," Teja says. "Feline? So in evolution, you are distantly related to cats?"

It amuses him, somewhat.

"As much as you are to monkeys." Xaldin agrees, "Possibly even farther away, but if you go back far enough."
