Tom spent a sleepless night visiting the main painting portals (of which there are many) in the House of Arch, ensuring his wards are firmly in place. His work is not quite done, however

Bart sleeps too much. Which is why, when Jenny goes downstairs for a glass of cola, she's the one to receive the note. It's read quickly before she pens something back:
Hello Tom,
I remember you! And if there's anything we can do to help, I don't think Jay would mind me volunteering him and myself. He's a speedster and I'm a soldier and Ingress is my friend.
We'll keep an eye on them, though. Will Security be able to do something about them?
Yrael had just returned to the Bar to send a note to Tom, regarding this evening's Happy Hour, when Tom's letter to him arrived.
Reading it quickly, he asks Bar for paper and pen, to rewrite his note to Tom.
Tom, ---I had just written a note for you regarding the two men who came to my bartending shift this evening, as they had mentioned being from London Below and had asked whether I knew anyone else who came here from London Below. They looked and smelled like rather unsavory characters, speaking with them only serving to solidify that impression, so I said I did not know anyone from London Below, nor had I heard of it.
---I did not know if you knew of their arrival yet or not, so afterwards I went to write you a note to that effect. Seeing as you do, and the two of them are as unsavory as first impressions would suggest, know that any help I can give you is yours.
Draco stopped in, and he indeed noticed the letter from Tom as well. He skimmed it, eyes widening in serious alarm, and quickly put it away so as to pass along the message to Mia.
He then hastily scribbled a note in conjured parchment.
Tom, Of course I will. Anything you need. Including potion help as well if it came to that. I will pass along word to Mia straightaway on this matter as well. On my way right now. ~Draco
He even affixed a stylized stamp with the Malfoy crest and the Magic Guild symbol to it before leaving it with the bar. He owled a urgent note of warning to Mia before nodding to the dogs in the painting and stepping through to the House.
Sallie reads her own copy quickly, scrawling as neat as she ever does a reply:
Tom:
Thank you very much for letting me know about this. I do not know what I can offer in the way of help if you end up needing it -- I also hope this is not the case. I will pass the note on to Malcolm. He tends to be more helpful in matters of threats against friends.
Much to Sallie's chagrin.
I will keep a lookout. Call me if you need a babysitter while getting things in order.
Sallie Reynolds
Sallie also seals the note again, printing something on the back of Tom's envelope and scratching out her name on the front of it to re-address to Mal.
When he receives the note, Wellard quietly reads it, then re-reads it.
Milliways is a wonderful place, but this is one of those reminders that it never is a safe place. (Then again, what place is?)
He folds up the note to slip it into a pocket, and then asks Bar for a pen and paper to write a reply.
Lord Ostium~ My thanks for the warning about these two people. I shall keep on the look out for them, as well as keep a watch on the House of Arch as much as I am able. Indeed, if there is anything I can do to help with this matter, please do ask.
There are quite a few others who I will convey your warning to as well. With any luck, you will always have someone here in the bar to help as needed. ~ H. M. Wellard

Mal opens the copy labeled Ms. Sallie Reynolds Malcolm first, reading the Please see if you can help in his mother's hand before ripping through it.
Mal's own response to Tom is short:
I am around. We should talk in person. If you're about and you don't see me, catch one of my crew and they'll come to Serenity to find me.
Mal seals it unsigned.
