The note had politely advised him that a meeting would be prudent, and Gabriel Tam learned some time ago not to disregard this particular individual's recommendations.
As a result, this evening finds him ensconced in one of the armchairs near the fireplace, reading a newspaper while he waits.

The Wolflord, however, is far more fastidious than that. Or so appearances would suggest.
"Ah. Gabriel. I trust you are here on business, at the moment?"

"You might indeed, given the communique I received." He gestures to a nearby chair, then signals for waitstaff.
"What's your pleasure?"

"Wine, I believe, will serve well enough. I leave the particular vintage up to you."

"Matters have not been ill, I may hope?"
He's fairly certain he'd have heard, if that had been the case.

This is especially noticeable right now, seeing as she is currently sort of looming over him.
"I hope I shall not discover that the reason you have not visited in a good while is because you have been ill again," she says, extremely sternly indeed.

Pressing questions settled for the moment, one might think that Mary would be free to move on to the next step: conventional greetings. One, however, would be wrong.
"Then where have you been? I have not seen you since I went back to school!"

He stops for a moment in surprise when he catches sight of the other armchair's occupant, and then smiles.
"Wan an, Dad."

Gabriel's answering smile is warm.
"How goes your evening?"

He takes the chair next to his father's, and carefully sets down his cup and plate.
