It is never a good idea to leave Whistler alone with reports of technology that allow him to use an already-extant completely unrelated system to do terrible, terrible things to his local phone companies. Phone-over-mains technology would be an example of such a thing. He's reading about it now, albeit in Braille and with the occasional stop to take notes on a portable, if somewhat awkward and clunky, six-key personal Brailler device.
Somewhere, a Pacific Bell executive just woke up in a cold sweat and doesn't know why.
