The Doctor is doing far too well today to be tripped up by a pyro and her dog. He gracefully sidesteps the rolling mass and waves as it goes by. "Hullo, Ace!"

Ace, having had a half-century to learn grace, demonstrates this by ending up sprawled across the bar floor, her dog happily licking her ears.

"... Hullo Professor." It's really true about dignity and parents. Really.

"Doing well?"

[nitro_is_ace]

"Rather." She grins crookedly, despite the dog. "Though I don't think I'm supposed to be telling you about it. You're a bit out of sequence."

Considering she's supposed to be concurrent with the version before this one, she tries to keep the relationship as untangled as possible.

Emphasis on tries.

"I did sort of notice that. Well, you don't have to give me any details, at least. You just look like you're doing well."

"I am. And you look like you've had a particularly good day as well." She replies, managing to untangle herself from the dog.

"It's good t'see. An old companion worries sometimes."

[thedoctorwho]

"Today was a good one, yes. Everybody lived."

She's traveled with him enough to know how rare that is, so he doesn't explain further.
