"Whut ur yew workin' awn, thar?"

Wilbur thinks that clipboards and strange, mysterious bits of paper are fun. He doesn't know about laptops yet.

"Nothing, just writing up an e-mail to Agent Co--"

She looks up mid-name, and comes to a bit of an impasse.

Whatever or whoever she was expecting, it didn't quite resemble Wilbur in her mind's eye.

Wilbur, being quite used to this, ignores it completely.

"Whut's an e-mayul? Es thet like regular mayul?"

"It's the same principle," Pepper manages, after a few more moments of silence.

"It's a little faster, though."

[weirdwilbur]

"Ayuh? Interestin'." Wilbur grins down at her. "Dew yew mind ef I set here?"

"Not at all."

"Thanks." He does so. "Sorry I startled yew."

"Oh, God, no, I should be apologizing for staring, you must get that all the time.

"I'm Pepper."

"Wilbur." He smiles. "Wilbur Whateley.

"An' ayuh, I git thet awll the time. An' worse, back home."

"Worse? I really -- I'm sorry, I feel like such a heel. That must be terrible."

[weirdwilbur]

"Et was, ayuh." He shrugs. "But thet's nawt yer fault. Yew jest stared, an' yew even apologized fer et!"

A tentacle pokes out of his trenchcoat. He doesn't seem to notice or care.

Pepper does notice, and moderately cares.

"So the tentacles are or aren't a commonality in your world?"

[weirdwilbur]

"Most people thar ur normawl humans." He sighs. "I could've changed thet, but they didn't let me.

"Stewpid humans."

"Uh -- isn't that a bit of a broad generalization?"

[weirdwilbur]

"Wal, the 'uns en Massachussetts whar pretty stewpid. Didn't see whut was gewin' awn right en front o' them.

"Should've jest let me open the Outer Gates an' be done wit et."

The Massachusetts comment gets a laugh, and Pepper seems to accept this.
