Clomp.

Clomp.

Clomp.

Cameron rests one hand on the Bar's polished surface, and tilts her head at a 15 degree angle. "May I please have the items I requested yesterday," she says, without bothering to end the sentence with an upward inflection. The items in question appear: both small, metal, and nondescript.

monkey, cameron baum

Quick as thought, there is a tiny monkey on her shoulder, peering at the objects with interest.

For a moment, Cameron stops moving entirely: no breathing, no involuntary muscle tremors, nothing. Then, very slowly, she cranes her head sideways. (It's at a 30 degree angle now.)

And stares.

Monkey stares back, patient as a stone. (Which is what he is.)

Cameron blinks.

Once.

Cameron blinks three times, very deliberately.

Cameron's head tilts another five degrees.

She blinks: once, twice, three times...

Eight times.

Monkey blinks three times rapidly, then winks his right eye.

She pauses.

Carefully, she blinks once -- and then her eyes flash bright blue, the light coming from somewhere behind the iris: once, twice.

Now she's just showing off.

Very thoughtfully, Monkey leans towards her, extending his neck, and bites her on the nose.

Just as thoughtfully, she clamps a hand around him, and lifts him away from her nose.

Monkey chatters to himself, and his tail whips around a little bit.

Then he starts getting heavier.

Her head cocks sharply again, in a clear gesture of surprise.

Monkey does not grin. (Grinning is a sign of hostility in most primates.) He wiggles his ears instead.

Then his tail flicks out and plucks two hairs off the top of his head; he blows on them.

There's a monkey on each of Cameron's shoulders.

Her head turns! Right, and then left. And then back to the Monkey in the middle.

A quick scan indicates no malfunction in her sensory input or processing.

With jerky, mechanical gentleness, she places Monkey on the bar, and watches.
