Dinah has Ben in a bind, here. He can't decide whether to comment on her right hand, the high school study group, or the whole "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" thing.

He decides to go with, "So you're a teacher, now."

"Ben!"

Dinah grins, waving a bandaged hand.

"Not really a teacher. Peer-study buddy? I figure a few of us kids could get together and help ourselves out.

"And it'll be fun!"

Sigh.

Why did she have to be cheerful? Ben was so warming up to the whole righteous indignation thing!

Leaning against the bar, "I suppose you don't need an old foagie like me to chaperon you or give you advice, do you?"

"Would you?" she says, maintaining the brightness. "I mean, anyone who'd help out would be cool. I have no idea what I'm doing."

There's a nod, implying that that's exactly what Dinah usually says, but she adds:

"But only because my Mom kicked him out of the house. It was my Uncle, in the ring, not on the streets."

"Other way round," she says cheerfully. "I busted my knuckle on his chin when training, and Mom kicked him out when he took me home. She's kind of overprotective, sometimes."

"Hey, Dinah!" Teddy calls as soon as he sees the sign. "That's great, you got it up! And it looks awe--" he frowns as he looks at her. "What happened to your hand?"

Dinah holds up a finger from her left hand. Wait.

"There's a word," she says. "Metacarpophalangeal joint. That's the one I broke on Wildcat's jaw."

Teddy sits down on the couch next to her. "Wildcat? That's your teacher, right? Wow."

"And my Uncle," she says, reluctantly. "And the longest running world heavyweight boxing champion on record.

"And he hasn't mastered dodging, yet."

Guppy, whilst not actually a teacher, likes to see youngsters getting an education.

He looks around for the authors of the note.

Dinah is still sitting at the bar, her hand well away from her book so she's not tempted to use it. It's just paranoia that makes her look up to see someone reading the notice, and smile.

Guppy notices the smile, and comes over.

"Hi, I'm not a teacher as such, but I know plenty of biology and a smattering of chemistry."

"Great!" she says brightly.

"So you'll help? We just thought it's a shame kids are here with nothing to do."

Luke eyes the sign thoughtfully and signs his name on the list.

Because learning things = love.

When she sees someone signing his name, the girl at the bar with the bandaged hand glances up, and grins.

Luke notices!

And makes his way towards her.

"Are you Dinah Lance?"

"That's me!" she says, and moves her hand to offer it... before changing her mind and offering her left, upside down.

"You interested in the study group?"
