The narration needed a distraction from the stupid, so Eduard's around! He's practicing sleight of hand tricks with a small red ball at a table.

There's that lemonade to one side too. (Yes, with ice. He's not getting over that.)

Dinah knows a little slight of hand- not a lot, but a polite man in the bar taught her some coin tricks once, and she's very good at physical learning. She also practises hard.

She has a Frappuccino in one hand and a burrito in another as she stands in the middle of the bar. She had been looking for a place to sit, but now she's watching the ball, slurping on her straw.

It's a simple trick, really: hold the ball in one hand, wrap your fingers over the ball, and when you open them again --

-- not there. It's in his other hand.

It probably would look impressive to Havelock's wards. Eduard hopes. Regardless, he doesn't realize he has an audience.

That's probably because it takes Dinah a few minutes to remember it's rude to stare. She's too fixed in learning mode.

After a couple of tricks, though, she approaches, grinning.

"Could you teach me to do something like that?"

"I don't think you would want to learn from me," Eduard replies bashfully, looking up at the dark-haired girl who approached him. "I am just learning as well. I might teach you incorrectly."

"Sometimes the best way to learn is by teaching someone," Dinah says cheerfully. "I know I find that with Judo sometimes.

"Can I sit down? I don't want to be a master magician, or anything. I just think it'd be cool to learn."

Hesitantly: "Alright." Eduard waves Dinah to the seat across from him. "Here's the ball that you start the trick with," he passes her the small red ball that magically appeared in his right hand.

Eduard's right hand then reaches down his left shirtsleeve. "And here's the second one."

:D?

Dinah smirks quickly while sitting.

"I thought there had to be a second. Either that or it was actual magic, and that's usually much more flashy."

She fingers the ball in one hand, rolling it across palm and knuckles as she gets a feel for it.

"I haven't gotten up to the level of illusions that would fool people our age and older," Eduard explains truthfully. "I imagine that will take me a lot longer."

Eduard holds his hands up, empty and palms towards Dinah. "The way I practice is usually in front of a mirror, making sure that I can let the ball roll from my sleeve without anyone in front of me seeing. The problem comes at making this out to not be obvious."

Dinah slips her ball up her sweater sleeve to give her room to imitate him, nodding in understanding.

"I think I'd really need a better shirt," she remarks.

"It must be a matetr of keeping movements subtle and economical, right?"

Like in fighting.

Eduard nods. "Ever tried to carry more than one egg in the palm of your hand? Smallest change of your finger and you'll drop one."

When Eduard travels, he'll discover baoding balls and have an actual exercise to practice that doesn't involve poultry.

"Eggs?"

Dinah shakes her head. "It's best to keep me away from anything involving food.

"I'm Dinah."

She gets it out of the way before it becomes too late.

"Eduard. Dinah's a nice name."

Immediate: "Why can't you be around food?"

"I burn it," she replies easily, already fiddling with the ball as she attempts to palm it.

"My Dad was the cook of the household. Since we lost him, Mom and KI have been on a strictly pizza diet."

Well, Dinah's been supplimenting it at the bar.

"I've become the cook of the house," Eduard explains, watching Dinah practice. "My father works too much to 'pay attention to details'. Which is only amusing when you think about that all he does is work on details in wood."

"Artist," Dinah says, with a nod. "My Mom's always been so engrossed with crimefighting that she used to forget to worry about me and my Dad."

More crimefighters!

"Is the future so dangerous? Everyone I meet here fights crime."
