There is a man who looks suspiciously mask-less!

...Outside the bar with a plastic human being practicing his roundhouse kicks. What, you didn't know that the infamous Racer X was a third-degree black belt?

You could watch, it is pretty cool.

That is, in fact, seriously impressive. Ray was coming outside to practice with his lightsaber, himself, but honestly? Unarmed combat forms r0x0r.

He's just gonna watch for a while, mm'kay?

In Tae-Kwon-Do you're supposed to make as much noise as humanly possible

Which is why when Racer X jumps into the air for doing a round-house kick his "KYA!" practically echoes. crouching down, he ducks into a front kick.

Completely oblivious.

Ray's only martial arts training's been in the use of the Chinese broadsword. His nephews study isshin kenpo, which allows for but doesn't especially emphasize the use of the kiaithose arts.

Fancy way of saying Ray jumps at the bellow and kick.

Ideally you're supposed to cycle through the ten blocks slowly, but X-moves through them quick.

He's got a pile of sticks across from the dummy-sticks near where Ray is. So when X stands up straight-breathing slow-he turns about and comes face to face with his audience.

Beat, "...Hello."

Ray tucks his right fist into his left hand and bows- hey, it works with Sifu Wong and Sensei Darren. "Afternoon," he says, even as his mun realizes that his tag up above was mangled by bad html. Le sigh. "I hope I'm not interrupting, but I couldn't help but take an interest."

"You're not interrupting at all." X has difficulty smiling. (It's a thing), "...Early morning practice."

He's not embarassed in the slightest, "...Are you familiar with Tae-Kwon-Do?"

"I've seen it done. I don't practice it myself," Ray says. "One of my nephews has several friends who're just starting to practice it- there's a TKD school that accepts seven-year-olds in their area."

X smiles. It is good for kids (and unlike the mun's sister who gets promoted to different belts just for showing up her TKD instructor insists that even the five year olds get the moves right)

"...Good fit for kids. Lets them be loud." He nods, wiping a hand over his brow. He sits on the grass in one smooth motion, gesturing for ray to do so as well if he wishes, "What brings you out here this early in the morning?"

Ray nods. "I was coming out here for saber practice, myself. it's a zoo back home so I grab the time to work on my forms here when I can."

He's not carrying any visible sword, just something that might be an extra-long flashlight.

X raises an eyebrow at that, "...Kendo?"

Insert other sword forms here? HE's not a swordsman, far from it. (Canonically!)

"Nah. Chinese and Melcene broadsword forms.

*snap-hiss*

"Mostly."

Now that is extremely interesting. Something more like what Gordon would have carried. X's interest is definately peaked, "...High Intensity lazerbeam?"

Actually thick enough to cut through something? CIB is only experimenting with things like that-and even then they're more rocket-style launchers for their cars.

"Something like that," Ray says. "It'll cut through anything but a forcefield, another saber, or metal made from cortosis ore. I practice deflection drills with my nephews by having them throw rocks at me, but when I'm here I have a training drone that a Milliways friend gave me to work with instead."

He produces the drone from his pocket and activates it.

"Stay out of its range and you won't get targeted. The bolts don't do damage, but they sting like the dickens."

Intrigued, X does as required, flipping onto his feet before standing at what he deems a safe distance away arms crossed over his ample chest.

Watching.

The drone is set on a generic pattern today, no particular area being targeted. It is, however, ratcheted up to speeds that John Preston never saw. This is because Ray is vastly more experienced with it by now- that's what happens when you spend forty years working with Melcene swordmasters and twenty-five with the fencing instructors at Miskatonic, plus your own saber work to keep you sane when nobody's looking.

To borrow a phrase, we pity da fool who tries to shoot Ray and expects it to get through.

The only one with reflexes like that that X knows is-

well, Speed

But that's behind a car and that makes it an entirely different animal. He makes a mental note to not do anything to provoke this man, hand to hand are fine, but barring behind behind the wheel of the 'star' or having him be sans sword he won't cross him.

He leans back on his heels, continuing to watch until he's done.
