He pauses in the doorway, and gapes around for one... two... three... four seconds, and then he GRINS and gives a triumphal whoop.

"I knew I didn't dream this place!"

"Yew certainly did nawt," a giant of a man agrees. "Et's way tew weird fer any'un tew imagine. Nawt ter mention tew big."

There are tentacles poking out from under the hem of his coat.

HE NOTICES THE TENTACLES. They are in fact the first thing he notices.

"Are you an alien, or an unspeakable horror from another dimension?" he asks.

He grins. Someone who knows what to ask! "My Father es the unspeakable horrur from enother dimension, actually. Does thet count?

"Wilbur Whateley, et yer service."

"Uh-huh. Yeah. I think that counts."

His fingers twitch with the sudden urge to dissect. So what if it's against the rules here. He looks at Wilbur through narrow, speculative eyes.

"I'm Dib," he says after a moment.

"Please keep your voice down," growled a Wraith holding his head with a green hand, "I may feed on you if you refuse."

Ah, yeah Todd is not happy.

"Uh, no," Dib replies. "You can't do that. I know the rules here."

"I don't care much for the rules of this place," said the Wraith looking at the child, "You are a strange human. Are you one of the ones that has strange powers?"

"...Huh? What? What kind of powers are you talking about?"

Humans could have powers? Well, of course psychics and stuff, but he'd never actually met anyone who could...
