In Bar sits a girl who might, at first glance, appear human. Indeed, Wanderer has gotten quite used to carrying on polite conversations without ever touching upon the fact of what she is; that is, of course, because she's spent most of the past few weeks on Earth, and there she is exactly what she is supposed to be ( Read more... )

Nope, no attention has been caught here.

Don't mind the greyish rat reading a large cookbook nearby.

[ooc: sorry! I fell off the face of the Earth there for a bit. Slowtimes = ♥]

Well, that's fascinating.

Wanderer stares for a bit before deciding it can't possibly hurt to say hello. The rat probably isn't actually reading... but then again, she's not one to rule such things out. She used to be a giant, super-intelligent spider.

"Excuse me?"

[ooc: no problem!]

The rat turns to glance at Wanderer, curious as to whether it was he whom she was calling to.

She does seem to be staring at him.

He smiles, ears twitching. "Bonjour," he says. "Can I help you?"

"Oh! You do speak, then? That's fascinating. I've never seen a rat who does."

She doesn't seem alarmed by this. Just curious.

"A lot of people haven't," Remy says sympathetically. "Anyway, it only seems to work here. Back in my world, I appear to be just your regular non-speaking rat."

"That must be inconvenient. How do you communicate then?"

She wonders, offhand, if rats can be taught telepathy. Some creatures she'd encountered actually did learn the ability over time.

Remy shifts in his spot.

"We don't - not really. Most rats avoid humans as much as they can."

He pauses.

"What kinds of rats do you have on your world?"

"The standard kind, I'd assume. I live on Earth now," Wanderer says with a little smile.

"But we don't always know all the capabilities of non-dominant species. On one world we had no idea that a sort of flower was intelligent and aware until one of us had to take it as a Host."

Intelligent flowers? That's a little ... weird.

But more importantly, "... 'take it as a Host'? What do you mean by that?"

"Souls - that's what my species calls itself in human speech - need a Host to survive outside of the Origin. That's our home world. My Host is human, at present."

Wanderer is, as always, completely up-front about what she is. She doesn't think a rat ought to have reason to take offense, in any case.
