Ratchet is once more laser deep in a project. Huge surprise, we know, but the 'bot likes tinkering and for what he's working on, it's much easier at this size.

Distraction is a wonderful thing, Will needs it and so he wonders over to the robot,

"What are ye workin' on, sir?"

He's just a bit sore but nothing is broken, yay for Jedi healing powers.

"An enclosed system capable of pumping fluids and microscopic particles indefinitely and made of various metal alloys and chemical compounds," Ratchet sums up. The laser shuts off and his limb reverts into a hand. The move results in a small mechanical thing being revealed with various tubes. The liquid within is clear.

"Hello," Ratchet says cheerfully.

"What's that goin' to do, sir?"

"Eventually, I hope it'll be an excellent circulatory system, but there's still a lot of work to be done before that happens. This is still in the early experimental stages."

Ratchet looks at him, blue optics unwavering.

"Do you have any experience in working biological systems besides your own?"

"Nay, 'fraid I dinna, sir, though know where I bleed a lot."

"Are you injured now?" Ratchet's scanning him already anyway. He's a medic. It's what he does, even if Will isn't his usual patient.

Will's got some newer bruises and a recently healed broken rib but nothing too severe,

"Nay, sir, but thank ye for askin'."

"Not at all. I'm a medic for my people, but I'm learning how humans function. Name's Ratchet."

He doesn't offer a hand. Usually the size is much different.

"Will Scarlett, sir, an always need more souls carin' for those 'urtin'."

So Will gives a small bow instead.

"The universe would be a better place," Ratchet agrees soberly.

"Where are you from, Will?"

"Nottingham, England durin' the reign o'King Richard, sir, do ye know it?"

"I know of Nottingham, England, but which Richard do you mean? There were several," Ratchet says after a moment of searching his memory banks.

He's downloaded most of the Earth's geography for practical reasons, and a good deal of its political history for fun.

"The Lion'eart, sir."

"The First, then, 1189 to 1199. Known for his commanding capabilities in the revolt against his father and also during the Third Crusade," Ratchet rattles off.

It hasn't occurred to him that Will might not know this.

"Aye, 'e's at the Crusade now, sir."

"Why is he fighting?"

Ratchet knows the historical answer, and he doesn't approve, but he wants to know what Will thinks.
