[OOM: Five Days Away and A Favour]

David enters the bar through the front door, and brushes a little snow from his shoulders.

He looks around and thinks: it's just the same.

He takes a backpack from his back and sets it down in a booth, looking for friends or lovers.

She wanders over very carefully, not sure if she's got the right person or not. Cautiously, she holds out a hand to the young? man smiles as disarmingly as she can.

"H-hello, David, is it? My, uh, my name is Natalie...and I think you're...well, you're friends with my fiancee? Nick?"

She laughs nervously.

"If I'm wrong about this...sorry. Just, uh, I was hoping I could meet some of the people he talks about all the time since I'm not really, well, social."

He turns around as the lady approaches her.

"Oh, I... not at all, no need to apologise," he says, raising a hand to the back of his head and smiling, smoothing down his hair.

He moves his other hand to hers and shakes her hand.

"And yes, I'm David. David Talbot. Nick's spoken of you, but I've never had the pleasure of meeting anyone he speaks of, really."

He smiles, broken tooth forgotten, and blushes somewhat. To think that others talk of him when he's not there makes him flush.

[OOC: Meh. I hate this. Slowtime okay? 'Cause I'm just about to dive into a shower and then go to bed. Work at 9am, and I'm fast approaching midnight]

She grins.

"I'm like some urban myth...lots of people have heard of me, but so few have actually me. I admit...I'm not the most social of people. I spent most of our...forced time here up in my room reading some books I found. But I will admit that Nick was right about one thing: you certainly are a very nice man."

[it happens! see ya later!]

He blushes, rather noticeably. "I... have no idea what to say to that, except thank you. And I have several thousand books in my collection, if you'd like to borrow some?"

She blushes a bit and grins.

"Well, sir, I don't see how I could resist that offer."

"Well, it would be quite simple: just say no. But I don't see why you'd do that," he says with a smile.

"Can I get you a drink?"

She smiles gently and nods. He really is very sweet.

"Thank you. That'd be...lovely."

He stops one of the passing waitrats. "What will it be?"

"White wine."

She giggles a bit.

"Living with Nick has, well, it's dampened my taste for red."

He smiles brightly. "I can understand the turn-off. Or... no, I can't. I never did drink wine in the first place. I was a Scotch man before."

She smirks.

"Well, I used to be a vodka woman, so..."

And wow, that really didn't sound good. It's true...and she hates that it's true, but it doesn't sound good.

"Yeah...turn off..."

David shrugs. "I could never stand Vodka myself. Like drinking perfume. Not that I'd know."

He nods his head. "And yes, the blood thing. Although I've been quite fortunate this time around in mortality insofar as I don't have a blood craving. Last time I was turned mortal, I got bloodlust again and..."

He shrugs again.

"It ended rather badly."

She nods. She's seen the First Hunger in vampires, during the epidemic. Nick had nearly...God, the look in his eyes as he'd stared at her.

"I'm...well aware how badly that can go. There was...something of a vampire plague at home. Nick...Nick was like that for a bit."

"A vampire plague?"

He looks worried. "We've never had anything like that before, I don't think; not on our world. Our hunger wanes with the years, although I was still a youngster recently, I suppose. Now I have to start all over again, if I so choose."

"It was a strain of virus designed to combat AIDS...but it proved useless within the body even though it worked in the test tube. But it was deadly to vampires. Luckily, we...I...we figured out how to cure it in time to save most of the population in Toronto."

"That's... strange. Maybe because vampires can't catch diseases? Is that the same on your world as mine?"

He furrows his brow.

"You're rather smart, then?" he asks with a grin.
