It's not every day that Havelock isn't responsible for any of the three children than he seems to have acquired by association. Ava, for purposes of her own, may or may not have been spending the morning investigating inexplicably shadowy corners. (She is only a little afraid of getting cobwebs on her new dress.)

La la la!

She is a little surprised to find that one of them is occupied.

It's true, they are a distinct and mysterious Milliways phenomenon.

Havelock looks up, and shrugs politely.

"It is not a problem," he says courteously. "Were you looking for something?"

Besides, some of the things Lilly presses on him are easily strong enough to gain sentience.
