A stool or two over, there's a woman in motorcycle leathers. She's filling up an ashtray, and was reading a small book before something more interesting came along.

Now, Coyote is eyeing Kim outright. Polite is for other people.

It doesn't take Kim long to notice -- knowing when you're being watched is an important survival skill for a thief. She gives Coyote a wary sidelong look, still working on the bread and cheese.

Coyote smiles sunnily. "You are a sight, my dear. And where do you hail from?"

She's got a long snout, and sticks it into everything.

"Nowhere near here."

Her accent's pure London, though.

She tosses her head back and laughs. "There are very few people who come from someone close to the physical location of Milliways. I can think of one. And he is hardly a good conversationalist."

Coyote shrugs. "England, then." She couldn't tell the difference between London and Yorkshire accents if they wore nametags and jumped up and down.

Or perhaps she could, but she wouldn't care.

"Yeh," she agrees, still wary, though that answer is safe enough. "When're you from?"

"Currently, I come from New Mexico, in the year 2008." Coyote rolls her eyes. "But I have turned my head toward home, which is Arizona. Your New World, if I judge your clothing correctly. I believe I do, odd as it may seem."

"Likely that it does not exist, yet. How strange to think about it. I have become far too complacent in my old age."

She makes up for it by turning her gaze back to Kim and the outfit.

"And you? You must not have been coming here for very long, or at least not often. I believe I would have noticed."

Kim tenses up.

"I been comin' long enough to know my way around."

Which doesn't really answer any of her questions.

"It would be foolish to not learn your way, here. There are far too many miscreants about," Coyote says with a toothy grin. "They steal my thunder."

She snorts a little at that, in spite of herself.

"Ain't such a havey-cavey lay as some."

Compared to the pubs of London, Milliways is tea with the ton.

"Perhaps no. But I imagine they do not receive so widespread a patronage, unless you frequent other establishments at the end of universes?"

Coyote's tone suggests she thinks this probably is not so.

". . . There ain't any other ends," Kim points out, uncertainly. "That's the point."

"There are two sides to every story, sweet. Why can there not be another end?"

"'Cause that'd be a beginning."

At least, she thinks so.

Anyway, there are more important things to worry about--

"I ain't your sweet."

--like the fact that this woman makes her very nervous.
