Cyrus is sitting at a table near the back of the room, reading a book about Max Schmeling and Joe Louis. If there's one thing he misses from being alive, it's a good boxing match. Some would tell him the sport is barbaric, and he would would agree that it's not what it was. But it's still a hobby, even here, and at least he can always read about

"What're you reading?"

It's been a while since they last talked, but that doesn't prevent Madolyn from looking perfectly cheerful, if a little tired.

"Madolyn...hi." It has been a while. (He wondered, in fact, if her life go busy and she just didn't have any downtime.) "It's a book about hteLouis-Schmeling fight, in 1938. Ever hear about it?"

[madolyn_madden]

"I actually haven't," she admits. "The only thing I can call to mind regarding 1938 is the broadcast of The War of the Worlds."

[dean_o_dell]

"I didn't think so. It was a pretty big event, but if you ren't into boxing, or history, it's not that well known." He signals her to take a seat. "It's been a while, Madolyn. How have you been?"

[madolyn_madden]

She does so, pulling in a chair carefully.

"I've been better, but I haven't got anything to complain about. The offices are being refurbished, so I've been trying to work around that, and I've been getting less sleep than usual thanks to a construction project going on in my neighborhood. They say it should only be a couple more days.

"And you?"

[dean_o_dell]

"I'm not bad. Things are still quiet for me here, but I've taken up bartending. I never thought I would spend part of my afterlife pouring drinks, but...well, so far it suits me." And that makes him smile.

[madolyn_madden]

"Oh, that's wonderful! No one's been heckling you, I hope?"

[dean_o_dell]

Cyrus smirks. "Not yet. But I wouldn't mind a little heckling. It would be like old times."

[madolyn_madden]

"I'll try to be around the next time you're up, then."

[dean_o_dell]

"That would be nice." He has to smile. "I might be around to it in a week or two. The schedule's a bit unsteady so far. I think Mike plays it by ear."

[madolyn_madden]

She smiles back.

"Well, whatever happens, I'll cross my fingers. If I'm not there, I don't know. I'll try to come up with something or other to make up."

[dean_o_dell]

"Will you now?" His smile is a little brighter still.

[madolyn_madden]

"I will," she says decisively, arch look playing about her features.

"I keep my promises."
