As usual, Angel is caught flat-footed at the Door when he finds himself in Milliways. The place has a way of grabbing him just when he's completely certain he's going to end up somewhere else. Say, like his kitchen, maybe. Good thing he wasn't stepping into the shower

He may eventually notice the dark-eyed girl watching him, head cocked to the side.

She's perched on top of a table, barefoot and crosslegged.

Angel glances at her quicker than most people would--vampire senses and all that. But the sudden look up with a startled blink and then a look back has less to do with being a vampire than with the fact that River's head tilt is a lot like Illyria's.

Ok. Good. She's not blue.

Except--. She could still be an Old One. A sneaky Old One. Illyria isn't much for the sneaky, but who knows what the rest of Them might be like?

Angel squints at River, looking for any signs of Old-One-ishness.

It's pretty darn sneaky, if so. But you never know!

River peers back.

(She's seen him once before. A different universe's him -- but she may or may not know that.)

And Angel is blinking again, because now that he's getting a good look at her, he knows he's seen her somewhere before.

Or was it only someone like her?
