Life? Is good.

At the moment, life involves Neric and Ravin curled up together on the couch by the fire, where he is enjoying a honey cake and some tea while she is reading to him about the elves in her world.

(For those sensitive to empathic projection, the feeling is one of love and contentment.)

(Two muns, two pups. Have at it.)

The book is more technical than a fairy tale, but is full of interesting details... high elves and their magnificent cities of crystal and magic... wood elves and their tree cities... and of course, the rare urban (gray) elves who live beside humans in some cities.

"Gray elves are the ones common people meet most often, and so their demeanor colors much of the opinion humans have of the elven races..."

He rests his head on her shoulder, looking at the book. Reading takes effort for him, still, so he is content to let her read for him.

"Are they friendly?" he asks. "Have you ever met any?"

"No, not really, just saw them from a distance." She nuzzles Neric's shoulder. "They are strange: people say elves never die of old age, or even get old, really. They can live longer than Dragons."

"We should go look for them sometime, unless they don't want to be found."

He smiles. "We could explore your world, meet all sorts of people, see all kinds of places, and then write a book of our own about them. I think that would be fun."

"Hm... first I need to find a door here from somewhere away from the Dungeon... the monsters there would try to hurt you... or worse." Why yes, she is agreeing with his idea. All Neric's ideas are great!

The idea of being underground again frightens him. And in a place where, unlike Erda, there are indeed monsters... no. He has no objections at all to her plans of finding a different door.

"Would you have to go back, leave the Dungeon and find a door somewhere outside? Or is there a way to do it from here?"

He doesn't like the idea of Ravin being alone in the dark in the tunnels either, even though he knows it's her world, and she has done just fine there before.

"I can do it later..." Right now, Ravin does not want to be anywhere but here, with her man. "I love you."

The demi-lich scoots closer to kiss her lover, purring. Hopefully, pushing away his fears.

He returns the kiss, setting his teacup down on the table so he has his other arm free to hold her close.

"I love you too," he says.

And then, after a moment, "I've been thinking, what we talked about a while ago--going to visit other people's worlds. I think we should."

Ravin simply nods; no argueing there. "Which world you think we should try first?"

"Any one we can find someone to let us into," he says. "As long as it's fairly peaceful and safe. And people there won't be too surprised to see strangers. Somewhere we could blend in."

The idea of a world where either of them could blend in, let alone both of them, is more unusual than he realizes.

"I can ask a few people I know." She nods "I think most versions of earth are ratehr peaceful." The book is set aside, so ravin can take over Neric's lap.

Hmm, Neric-lap

Mmm, Ravin as a lap-warmer. Better than a blanket.

"I'd like that," he smiles. "My people were from Earth--I think it would be nice to see what it was like, where they came from. All we know of Earth is that there were wars, and scientists, and children with powers. And building materials that are not wood or stone. And that doesn't really tell me anything about what it was like to live there."

"Metal, glass, and there is this weird thing called 'plastic'. I have been to Earth once, and it is quite strange." She slips arms around Neric's neck, and leans closer.

"Did you like it there?" he asks. "I've seen London, and I've seen Sherwood, at least images of both of them. They seemed nice, except for all the fighting."

"It was strange. Lots of people, all hurried, and cities big like I never imagined a city could be big." She ponders. "And a bit too few trees, even for me."

At least trees give shade to let Ravin rest her eyes.

"That's about how it seemed to me," he agrees. "Not enough trees, too much activity and noise and so many people... what are they like in your world? Maybe that would be better. Start with something smaller, not so different."
