Jadis rarely likes children - but perhaps her time here has mellowed her. We will never know! But, she hasn't turned him into stone. This is good. (Not that she could anyway, just in case anyone is worried).
"I see," she says, still completely serious. "Are these other pirates invisible, or are you practising so that you can keep us safe when the inevitable day of the invasion comes?"
"Well," Momiji replies, sounding rather calm and reasonable as he leaps forward, piercing the heart of one of his incorporeal opponents with a thrust of his toy sword that would make anyone familiar with a real one laugh outloud.
"They're imaginary! But I've only met one real pirate, around here, and I don't think he'd want to fight."
Also, if he did, Momiji would totally end up losing, which would mute the fun a bit.
Hence, Momiji is also confused, and he does a quick, 360-degree spin, in case any of his fantasy opponents has decided to adopt this deviously realistic stratagem against him.
As best he can figure out, though, the sound is coming from that door over there, which he scampers over to, sword going back into his pocket.
Momiiji advances a little bit more towards the sounds, reaching up to idly tug at one of his ears, which has, in its usual, strange way, found it way out over his bandana.
"Thanks...? They pop up, sometimes, here."
And, as if in demonstration of the reverse of this principle, they suddenly disappear from view, once he's done saying so, leaving him normally earred.
There's a swift twirl of bandana and sword and rainbow tights, as Momiji swivels around to face Toby, all smiles. He promptly adds just a few blinks to his person, when he notes the doctor's cargo.

"Fair Sir," she says to him, solemnly, "what foul beast do you battle with?"

Still, he stops his shadow-fencing for a second, spinning around dramatically and smiling at the witch.
"Uhm - other pirates! Bad ones that make people walk the plank and stuff.

Every once in awhile, the door to the lakeside is propped open.
"...The demon bunnies are pirates? I am confused."

"What's with the skeleton?"

The pirate bounds a bit closer, looking over the skeleton.
Apparently, doctor's equipment is exempt from pillaging.
