About an hour ago, Susannah had a drink with Moiraine. Which led to a short conversation with Nynaeve. Which led to a visit home.
Now the door to Milliways open again; the person opening it is a slim and pretty young girl, with cream-and-coffee skin, who opens the door outwards then steps back. If you're looking out the door you can see she's done that to get behind Susannah's wheelchair and push her mother through the door.
But something happens, as they pass through the door; the girl disappears. Susannah rolls forward a little on her own, twisting in her chair in sudden shock. The expression on her face is shock, at first, shading towards horror, and she grabs her wheels and rams backwards through the closing door, then back forwards.
She's gone.
She's gone.
How can she be gone? Shock gives way fully to horror, and horror to grief and something just this side of panic.
