It's been well over a week since the game started, and Goldy is still masquerading as Snow White. Black wig, pale skin, ruby red lips, blah blah blah, plus a pair of glasses. As an unlikely disguise it seems to be working so far; as a look it is definitely getting old for her. To her credit though, she doesn't show any outward annoyance over it ( Read more... )

Charlie swings by the table and attempts to very surreptitiously peek into Goldie's mug to see if she needs more coffee. This is actually something Charlie's good at, but it's only a normal level of subtle and someone who's on alert is sure to pick up on it.

The bulge that looks roughly water gun shaped in Charlie's apron pocket may or may not be noticed, depending.

She might not look it from the way that she's unconcernedly lazing back, but Goldy is on pretty high alert. Thus, the glance is not missed. The apron bulge could be anything though and doesn't raise any real suspicion.

As for the mug, it's less than half full at this point, and could probably do with a top up. Assuming this lady to be a new member of the wait staff, the Fable pushes it closer to the end of the table so it can be serviced.

Charlie grins as she lifts the coffee pot she's carrying and starts pouring. "Cream or sugar or anything?" she asks, pausing before the mug is completely filled in case Goldie wants to add anything.

"Just a splash of cream please," is the impassive reply.

She removes a sachet of Equal from the condiment tray and starts to shake it between her thumb and fore-finger.

With a nod Charlie complies. "Need anything else while I'm here? A slice of pie or something?"

"Sounds tempting, but I've still got these," Goldy says, gesturing at the mostly untouched biscotti selection.

Beat.

"You might be able to twist my arm though. What's the special today?"

"I don't know," Charlie admits with a laugh. "But I've always been a big fan of apple myself."

A crease of confusion forms in Goldy's forehead.

"How can you not know? You're a waitress. Didn't Gil give you the list before you started your shift?"

Charlie blushes a bit, still laughing. "I don't actually work here," she admits.

"Uh... okayyyy."

Thinking that this woman may have just wandered in from some sleazy diner on God knows what world, Goldy pushes her newly freshened coffee away, rather pointedly.

"It might have been nice to know that before you served me."

Charlie's lip wobbles a bit and her eyes widen. "I... what do you mean?"

"I mean that I'd rather have my food and beverages originate from the Milliways kitchens. Call me picky, but that's one of the reasons I stay here."

"Where do you think I got the coffee?" Charlie says, somewhat confused.

"From wherever you came in from?" Goldy hazards.

"Oh," Charlie grins a bit sheepishly. "The coffee back in Texas is good, don't get me wrong, but I haven't been back since I got here."

"So... it is from the kitchen?" Goldy advances.

"Oh. Sorry. I didn't realize people could just wander in there and help themselves to things. My bad."

She's still not a hundred percent comfortable with an unofficial server, but the source of the sustenance was the key thing.
