X, wearing jeans and a tank top (hush, she's trying to 'blend in'), is seated at the bar.
The remains of a meal are in front of her.
She's got one iPod earbud in her ear, and she's frowning a little as she listens to music.
Blame the lyrics.
She is having trouble with metaphors.

That's a strange word. Especially since before she got here she'd narrowly avoided dying, and since she got here someone told her she did die, but even though she's just wounded......she's all strangely peaceful.
"For the most part, I do think so."
Then. "You were frowning?"
Reply
"You are hurt."
She shifts closer, expression gone very intent.
"You do not need a doctor?"

She was lucky Marian was fond of her.
"I have seen two."
Reply
"Good."
She sounds very certain of that.
"I do not want you to die."

(Before she died.)
"I agree with you. I do not want to die anytime soon."
Then she tilted her head. "This doesn't get you out of answer my question either."
Reply
"Okay."

"I am listening to music."
She is still not sure if she likes it or not.

"I don't hear any music."

The bigger part stayed in her hand, while the smaller parts tried to fall out of her hand. It had a strange screen and little symbols on it.
And she was being very careful not to drop it.
"I still don't hear anything."
Reply
"I do not know how to explain."
Reply
"It makes music."
This was a very confusing thing. And definitely not hers.
"And you can hear it, right now?"

Actions are better than words, on occasion.
