Mulder has purposely abstained from being in Milliways for a while, mostly because the news that he's presumed dead in another timeline fills him with a modicum of distress. Outwardly, there would be no way of determining that, given his relaxed facade. And it's not as if he hasn't come to reasonable terms with it. In fact, a few recent cases have been enough to preoccupy him of late. So, he comes to Milliways purposefully today, rather grateful for the escapism it affords him.
