It's been yet another while that Melou's been here. Yet another birthday has gone by - he's 20 now - and he'd almost begun to forget that Milliways ever existed

Angela resists the urge to pounce upon him immediately. Now she knows why Bar put her in this dress.

He's gotten older again. He looks so tired. But still, she hangs back just a little and takes a breath.

And then she goes over and comes in his line of sight before sitting down across from him. She smiles slightly. "Hi," she says softly.

He glances up at her, a small but genuine smile on his face.

"Hey, gorgeous. Long time no see."

She's still sixteen. It hasn't been that long for her. "You too," she says. "Missed you. I'm glad you're here."

"I shouldn't be," he sighs, taking a long sip of water. "It's not fair."

[angela_edmunds]

"Not fair?" she echoes. "Why?"

It's strange seeing him drinking water.

He nods toward the door. "Because they're all still out there. Cold and hungry."

[angela_edmunds]

Angela nods, brow furrowing. "I'm sorry." She really is, because it means things aren't going so well. "Wish I could help." She really does mean it.

Anything to just...do something about a situation she can't do anything about.

Things are really not going well at all.

"I know. But you can't."

[angela_edmunds]

Angela nods. "I know." She moves her chair over a little closer, and reaches over to touch his hand. She's not quite sure what to say.

This hurts to see him like this. Not that she'd ever say so.

His fingers curl in with hers slowly.

"You look good."

[angela_edmunds]

She smiles and looks down shyly. "Thanks. More Bar's doing than mine," she says, fingering the dress.

Honestly, she'd only wanted to slouch in her room all day in sweatpants. She hadn't been in the mood for Bar's Valentine's day, but now she was glad she'd put on the dress and come down.

"Did you get older again?" She really doesn't have to ask that, she knows already, but it prevents her from asking how he is.

Melou nods. "Twenty now. And it doesn't have anything to do with the dress." He hasn't even actually noticed it until just now.

[angela_edmunds]

She blushes a little, and curls her hand a little tighter around his. "I'm glad you think so." She leans over and kisses his cheek.

He threads a hand into her hair before she pulls back. "I missed you."

[angela_edmunds]

She stays close gladly, slipping an arm around him. "Missed you too," she whispers. "So much."

[dragon_twin]

He presses his temple against her cheek, breathing in the scent of her hair.

"You're going to make me not want to go back."
