As Marsh did not leave after entering yesterday he is slightly less grimy today than he was then. He has a glass of water, it started ice-water but his habit of watching it caused the ice to melt, and a book gathered from the library.

It is because of this last that his hands have been meticulously cleaned; he would not damage the book if possible.
