Tonight, Sora is sitting by the fireplace in a comfy seat. He hasn't been here in a while; it's kind of nice to just sit back and relax for a bit.
He closes his eyes for a moment, appearing to look as though he might be dozing.
He actually isn't, though. Not really.
Maybe he's simply waiting.

There's a young woman also by the fireplace who seems to be making a stack of crumpled papers.
She tosses the latest failed letter in frustration, which ends up bonking Sora on the head.
If he bothers to open it, he'll see that it says, "Dear Lucius and Narcissa, we would like the pleasure of your company at dinner," at the top.

In any case, a startled Sora straightens in his seat, his hand automatically going for the crumpled page.
He glances about, noticing Mia nearby.
Cautiously, "Uh - this yours?"
Reply
"Yes. I'm sorry that I bothered you with it. This has just been harder than I thought it was going to be."
She puts her pen down.
"You can just add it to the pile there," she adds, gesturing to the other failures.
Hmmm, for some reason he seems familiar.
Probably just the hair, though it isn't nearly as wild as Axel's.

"What're you working on?"

She nibbles on her pen a little.
"Give me contracts to sign and papers to grade any day."

He knows nothing about in-laws and the sort of thing that could happen when they don't like you - especially for stealing their kids.
In any case...
"What've you got so far? Maybe I could help."

Mia's not really believed in good luck before, but she's starting to think it's the only chance she'll have for a civil evening.
She smiles at him.
"Not exactly the best thing to bother you with, is it? I've not even introduced myself."
She holds her hand out.
"I'm Mia."

If it were up to him, he'd simply write what he means to ask and be done with it.
"I'm Sora," he returns.
Reply
"Sora?" she asks, tilting her head.
She has heard of you! Sort of!
"Pleased to meet you."

And for some reason can't remember why Yrael said she was a more suitable choice than him. Sure, the fire helps, but Sora seems very nice.
"Well, what do you think about this?"
She knows that she has this habit of overthinking things. She practically did the same thing about her wedding.

He nods. "I guess if you make the letter simple, then your in-laws - or whatever they are before they become your in-laws - they'll know exactly what you want and won't get to make any excuses about it, right?"
He pauses.
"At least that's what I think. I don't know what they're like, though."
Reply
And not a bad kisser, but we're not telling anybody about that.
"That's true. Most everything is better simple."
She taps her chin a little with her pen.
"Well, they think I'm sullying their pure wizard bloodline because I'm not able to prove to them that I'm a pureblood witch. Really, it wasn't so much that I stole their son as it was that he decided that worrying about blood purity is stupid."
Reply
Ever.
"Oh." He pauses. "But you did a good thing for him, didn't you?" At least that's what he thinks. "That's kinda dumb, making a big deal out of pure bloodlines. Why's it such a big deal, anyway?"
Reply
"I don't know why that in particular. People always choose some arbitrary thing to make important."
She smiles and shrugs a little.
"He keeps telling me that. He tells me that I saved his life."
She's blushing bright red now.

He lets out a sigh, but it slowly turns into a smile.
"That's a nice thing to say," he remarks. "And if he was able to change, I'm sure his parents'll change eventually too."
