When Ironhide got back to base after the trip out to the Mojave Reserve (he did leave a message before going- no sense worrying anybody), he got filled in on the news about Prime's received signal. He had his doubts; he kept them to himself. That's really all anyone can ask of him some days

Lissar lifts a hand when, having heard one of them enter, she looks up to see him. The pile of dogs considers shifting a little, but doesn't do the obvious ooze away.

Ironhide raises his own hand in response and heads over her way. "Lissar. How're you doing?"

"I am well, Ironhide." Lissar says in turn, "The puppies are strong, and Ash is far more protective than I would have believed. That is why I brought the rest here, for a break from her fussing."

"I've had to get out of Ratchet's way more than a few times. That mech's a terror to anybody who gets anywhere near his patients," Ironhide says. "They doing all right, though?"

"They are." Lissar assures him, "Next week, if you are willing, I would like to begin getting them used to Autobots...by having you hold them in your open hands. If you would rather not, I shall ask Bumblebee or Ratchet."

".... uh," says Ironhide, looking at his hands. "They won't fall through?"

[lissla_lissar]

"Not if I put a blanket under them." Lissar says with amusement, slipping one of her hands into his while he looks at them, "And I will be right there, if something does go wrong."

"If you're sure," Ironhide says doubtfully.

He doesn't like the idea, but ... well, he's willing to try.

Lissar shakes her head a little, "I shall ask Bumblebee or Ratchet, Ironhide, and shall not push you."

Ironhide drops his hands. "Sorry, Lissar," he says. "I'm just not the mech for the job. No offense."

"I am not offended," Lissar says, reaching up to touch her fingertips where she had kissed him, "I do not wish you to change who you are, I have said it and say it again. I do, still, wish to have the new puppies used to Autobots. You are easiest for me to come to, but not the only one I know, and you could never offend me."

Ironhide nods, though not hard or sudden enough to knock her hand away. "Ratchet'd probably be honored," he says. "Might take the opportunity to learn how to examine one of them, while he was at it."

"I shall ask him, then, and only ask that you be willing to transport them when they are safely in a basket in my lap." Lissar says, removing her hand slowly and reluctantly. Touching him makes her happy. Contact makes her happy. "And it will be my pleasure to show him how to examine them...although I will insist that he try it on a full grown dog; puppies are fragile."

"He'll probably be good with that," Ironhide says, and rests a hand on her shoulder. "Easier to see the details on a full-grown dog, too."

Lissar's hand comes up to rest on top of his and she smiles up, "There, you see? Nothing is wrong, and we have a pleasing surprise for Ratchet."

"Good," says Ironhide. "Did you want to keep it a surprise that one of the puppies is for Prime? Because if you do, you know as well as I do not to mention it around Ratchet."
