There's music coming from downstairs -- lots of it -- and Kick has managed to convince her uncle to stop sulking and get out of bed to see what's going on.

When they reach the bottom of the stairs, Kick immediately starts clapping. "Oh, look! Everyone's singing and dancing!"

Nick just grunts. He doesn't see what they're so happy about.

"You're impossible," she sighs, and then begins to sing.

"Down with love, the flowers and rice and shoes,
down with love, the root of all midnight blues,
down with the things that give you that well-known pain,
take that moon and wrap it in cellophane."

Nick blinks at her for a moment, then sings in response:

"Down with love, let's liquidate all its friends --
the moon, the June, the roses and rainbow's ends.
Down with songs that moan about night and day,
down with love, yes take it away, away."

"Take it away, take it away," they both sing. "Give it back to the birds and the bees and the Viennese --"

"Down with eyes, romantic and stupid!" Kick sings as her uncle spins her.

Nick is beginning to think that Kick is far, far too wise beyond her years, but honestly, how can you worry when you're singing and dancing? "Down with sighs and down with Cupid!"

As the band begins to die down, they finish in unison:

"Brother, let's stuff that dove,
down with love!"

Not a moment later, they both flop onto the nearest couch and begin to talk as though nothing happened.
