(OOC: Are you still open for much slowtime?))

Will didn't witness the duel, because he's been resting his injured leg and so makes no connection to Tonio and the eunuch only a man who's been hurt. From a nearby comfortable chair, Will raises his own tankard,

"What 'appened to ye, sir?"

[ooc: always!]

Tonio sips his wine, and shrugs slightly.

"An argument with a sword. I won, but caught a slight scratch before it was over."

Now that makes Will wonder but Teja never did tell him the eunuch's name so he won't press,

"Aye, sir, same thing 'appened to me, swords can be quite troublesome in their ways."

Tonio chuckles, and nods.

"Very true, signore, but so long as one remembers that it is the sharp end that goes into the enemy, there doesn't tend to be too much of a problem!"

"I've not ridden much," Tonio confessed, "in Venice, everyone walks. It is a pleasure to meet you, signore. I am Tonio Treschi."

"Where are you from yourself?" Tonio enquires curiously. People here were from all over, he had learnt.

"Nottingham, England in the reign o'King Richard the Lion'earted, my door opens onto Sherwood forest."

Will grins again, he does love his home for all its troubles.

"A true forest?" Tonio asks. "I don't think I've ever seen such a thing as an English forest, although I have heard stories!"

"Oh aye, sir, Sherwood is a true forest, old an Green, all other forests I've seen are but a shadow o''er."

And Sherwood shines in Will's green eyes, old and true magic.

"I wish I could see it," he says, his own eyes wide and longing, because he really does wish he could just . . . do whatever he wanted, without thought.

"Tis Winter now an we've our share o'troubles, but 'rhaps someday I can take ye through my door. What do ye do in Venice, sir?"

"I should like that!" he says, amazed that such a thing is possible. "I do not live in Venice any more, but it is still my home. But I am a singer, signore. I am to appear in an opera soon."

That just makes Will grin,

"Aye, sir, that's brilliant though 'fraid I dinna know what an opera is. Is it like the plays the mummers put on?"

"A little," he says, "but everything is sung, and there is an orchestra to provide the music - many men playing many different instruments" he clarifies, in case Will has not heard of an orchestra either. Poor man.
