Tonio, who had acquired himself a room upstairs after being patched up in the infirmary (very well, he was surprised to find. Much better than he would have been at home) is now back downstairs, sitting rather stiffly in a soft squishy chair. The stiffness is due to the neatly-stitched gas in his side, the squishy chair is because Tonio is ( Read more... )

Toki was never one to hold a grudge. Well, there was the one exception to the rule, but Tonio wasn't it.

He smiled as he sat down nearby in an equally squishy chair gave a nod to the other man, "You fights real well yesterday. I can appreciates dat."

Don't mind the smug expression, it's because of something else entirely.

"My thanks," says Tonio. Gosh. It seems as if all of the Goth's friends are going to forgive him, are they? Well, he can be gracious.

"You'd be surprised how well imminent death can sharpen the skills," he says wryly.

Toki's smile went sly, "I wouldn't bes surprise about death in any ways. I sees a plenty of it."

Beat.

"Toki Wartooth, I plays for a band call Dethklok, I never catches your name, only gots explain why you has a duel."

Tonio shrugs. Fair enough.

"Tonio treschi," he says, because 'Marc Antonio' is really a mouthful!

He nodded, "Please to meets you finally. I hopes dat other den de duel, de bar's been okay to you?"

He'd heard of Bar being a very unhappy place before, so he had to check.

"So far, yes," he says. "I have met some very interesting people, and learned some very interesting things. And really, the duel could have happened anywhere"

"Oh, do dey happens often where you's from?" Toki asked, rather fascinated by that particular idea. They never happened in reality for him, so yesterday was quite the experience.

"Often enough, I suppose," he says, and shrugs. "They're not common - but they happen."

That was, honestly, his first actual duel, although he has fought to the blood enough times in the fencing salons.

Don't ask Toki about his opinion of fencing.

"We only gots guitar duels and like, stuffs likes dat in our world anymores. I don't hears nothin' abouts real duels excepts for in de movies." He shrugged. "I gots to says though, you's pretty fast. I wouldn't expects it from you."

"Guitar duels?" He asks, curiously. As far as he knows, a guitar is a rather ill-thought-off musical instrument, certainly of no real worth. This opinion could probably do with changing.

"And why not?" He asks, slightly coldly.

Toki shrugged, "Because you don't looks like a fast kind of guy. I don't knows. Oh ja, guitar duels. Skwisgaar and me gets intos dem alla times." He paused and looked around, "I bes right back, gots to gets somethin'."

With that, he bounded off to get his Gibson Flying V and the mini-amp that he had, bringing them back and turning the amp on. "See, usually, is just to sees who can plays de fastest? But I likes to plays to better styles." With that he spun into something similar to this, though it wasn't Vivaldi, it was Liszt.

"Ah," he says, mollified. "Well, appearances can be deceiving." And then he blinks and Toki is gone, blinks again and he's back, and then his eyes widen as the man starts to play.

"I would not have thought a guitar could be such a worthy instrument," he says. "I stand corrected."

Toki shrugged, "Peoples always undersestimates a guitar. Dey says de sames thing abouts metal, dat is just noise and growlings and anger. Dey don't sees de truths behinds it, dat metal gots a backgrounds in classical music, very very deeps rooted." He started playing another, similar sounding song, though it wasn't at all classical, it was a modern song, written by a rival band.

It was almost lyrical, how he played. The song took on its own personality, conjuring images of dragons and their riders, with swords drawn, on their way into battle.

Toki's expression seemed to go a bit blank as he played.

Tonio tilts his head to one side, and starts humming, once he's got the basic melody line and rhythm. It's habit, really, to take a melody and elaborate on it, but Toki's playing is very - inspiring.

Tonio's voice is - well, not what one would expect looking at him, but as Toki already knows the details of his unmanning, perhaps his effortlessly high, sweet soprano wont come as much of a surprise. The boy is obviously a very highly trained singer, though.

Toki raised a brow to that, but otherwise went expressionless still, and continued to play.

The voice was wrapped around, musically, so to speak, as Toki continued to play, the song suddenly becoming something different. One of Valkyries on thier six-legged steeds, their war-cries becoming the other man's vocals. It made more sense, then.

Tonio grins, and moves from humming so full voice, although he still doesn't bother with words - not that words are really necessary with this kind of music. It's exhilarating, and unlike anything he's ever sung before.

it should be said that, unlike when he is humming, Tonio's full voice is something to be reckoned with, and easily fills the room. If anything, it's almost too loud.
