Breakfast is Bond's favorite meal of the day. At times, it is the only reason why he gets out of bed. Work may be tedious and an end to the waiting may not be in sight, but at least Bond can start his day with a cup of coffee and a plate full of scrambled eggs. And other food, of course, but mainly the scrambled eggs

Lissar did mention dogs yesterday, right? Did she mention that combined there are more than seven hundred pounds of dog?

Probably not, but the roiling boil of fleethounds intent on getting Out Of The Heat and Into The Bar over by the door is fairly noticeable.

Mmm, yes. Considerably. It catches Bond's eye with ease, and his mind, addled as it is with tiredness and booze, thinks back to yesterday's conversation. It's no surprise, then, that he's on his feet and heading over in no time.

"Good day, Mr. Bond." Lissar says as four of seven dogs turn to sniff the person coming toward their Person, "I hope that you slept well."

[callitavesper]

Bond chuckles and looks to the floor, perhaps a bit sheepishly. "I'm afraid I didn't. Rough night. Got attacked by a rabid doppelganger."

[lissla_lissar]

Lissar looks at him blankly for a moment, "Doppelganger is not a word that I know." she says eventually, "I am sorry that your night was not restful."

[callitavesper]

"It means someone who looks exactly like you. But he was just 20 years older than me. Still, same face, same height--I'd say same body if I, er, saw more of him than I did."

[lissla_lissar]

Lissar's expression is nothing less than outright horror, "How awful."

[callitavesper]

James laughs. "In hindsight it was rather amusing. The old man's mad. Can't do much harm."

His grin falters.

"I hope not."

[lissla_lissar]

"Madmen are not always harmless. My father was mad." Lissar points out, "And I was my mother's double."

[callitavesper]

"I see." Again, she has a point. "I didn't mean to make light of a sensitive topic."

[lissla_lissar]

"I am not that self-centered." Lissar says, "I simply wish that you not dismiss the possible danger of a mad double."

[callitavesper]

"I'll take that to heart." He glances to the floor again, this time definitely sheepish. "I can be a little arrogant at times."

[lissla_lissar]

"Most humans I have known are." Lissar says, "It is only a bad thing if you allow your arrogance to blind you."

[callitavesper]

"I try not to. But there are times--"

And usually there's an M to tell him when he is being arrogant! But that's only at HQ.

[lissla_lissar]

"There are always times." Lissar agrees, "And so we must depend on others to tell us when our character flaws are getting in the way."

[callitavesper]

"It'd be convenient to have a little angel like that floating about always to tell us. Then we'd make less mistakes."
