There's something new behind the bar today. Someone new, anyway. Hawkeye Pierce is leaning on the Bar with all the loose-limbed lazy grace in the multiverse, wearing a ratty maroon bathrobe over his uniform but appearing to be relatively awake and alert.
It was a strange afternoon, to be sure; stumble into Milliways in search of coffee, shuffle over to the bar, get accosted by a short man dressed in eye-searing orange that made Hawkeye throw his arm over his eyes and demand imperiously that the lights be turned off. Said short man dressed in eye-searing orange enquired if Hawkeye had any bartending experience, Hawkeye responded, half-bemused and mostly-asleep, "Morning, noon, and night," and before he knew what was happening, Wes Janson was thanking him, explaining that he was late for a briefing, ushering Hawkeye behind the bar, and jogging out the door with a cheery wave.
Several minutes later, Hawkeye has now had coffee, discovered the specials board (and written on it in very messy, nearly illegible handwriting), and has a drink and an expectant look at hand.
