Tower appears at the bar and says, "The martini, please - I'm sure those eyes make it very, very special."

He winked at Kara, because you wink at women...

She smirks and mixes his drink, setting it on a napkin in front of him.

"I'm hardly Athena, but thanks..."

Tower smiles. "You might be?" he suggests, lifts his glass, and sips.

Independent young fighting woman - of course there is a bit of Athena in her, if you're talking Greek goddesses.

"I've been to her Tomb, but I'm not her."

She offers her hand across the bar.

"Kara Thrace"

Tower shakes the hand. "I'm Tower," he says. "A tarot card."

She ponders the relative merits of looking like an idiot and goes with it.

"A what?"

"Tarot," Twoer says, patiently. "A system of cards, like playing cards, but used for divination and the expression of archetypes. For suits from one to ten, page, knight, queen and king; and twenty-two trumps, or expressions of pure archetypes. I am one of those - the Lightning-Struck Tower."

"Oh."

Cards for not playing. Really, what's the point? Water bowls are for oracles, cards are for betting on.

"Anthropomorphic personification?" Tower suggests, grinning over his martini.

[oh_frak_me]

"Interesting. Does that happen a lot where you come from?"

She picks up a cloth and starts wiping the bar's gleaming surface.

"Yes," Tower says. "Where I am at home is the home of all those that personify Tarot cards - the eternal principles, and the incarnate development of the suites. We acclaimed a new Queen of Swords, recently, one that one of ours found in this place."

Tonight is apparently Kara's night for blinking.

"You can just randomly pick people to become anthropomorphic personifications?"

"No," Tower says, "they need very, very special qualifications. The Queen of Swords had them."

"Good for her?"

[destroy_restart]

"She would not have done it otherwise, would she?" Tower smiled. "It was a happy event - we celebrated among ourselves to welcome her!"

"That's...great. Do you...are you an oracle? Or is that not part of the anthropomorphizing?"
