Lee says very eloquently:

"Uh..."

He produces a bright green bottle, pouring a shot for her.

"You can tell me if you like it. Picon's finest."

"Sounds like a plan. Cheers."

She tosses back the shot; it doesn't taste a damn thing like tequila--which stands in its favor--but it's got a burn to match.

"I think we have a winner." She glances back at the board. "So this is ambrosia, you said?"

He pours her another.

"Sure is. Best stuff around, not that there's much of it left where I'm from. I'm Lee by the way."

"Pleased to meet you, Lee. I'm Mary Anne."

She picks the second shot up, but doesn't drink it yet.

"How come you're running out, if you don't mind my asking?"

"Our worlds were destroyed, we're on the run, looking for a new place to live. When there's only seventy or so ships and forty thousand people, there just aren't the resources to make good liquor."

"That...that'd do it, alright."

'I'm sorry' just doesn't quite cut it in this situation.

She lifts the shot glass in a toast. "To you finding a new home. Preferably one with an ambrosia still."

Lee lifts his own glass and sips.

"We're looking for Earth, we're hoping it'll be a haven for us"

And just when she thought nothing sounded familiar.

"Earth, huh?" She smiles. "Makes me wish I could give you directions. Can leave the light on for you, though."

Lee smiles a little.

"That'd be great, problem is, we have no idea when we are in relation to any of the Earths that you can get to from here."

She winces.

"That does make things difficult...Maybe if it's a very long-lasting light."

Not like she doesn't have time to kill.

He grins.

"Maybe. You're from Earth then, I assume?"

"Born and bread," she says.

"It's 1973 back home, if that means anything."

"Sorry, not a thing. Our numbering seems to be a bit different. I only know what people here have told me."

"Figured I'd give it a shot," she says.

"So, when you're not introducing Earth girls to offworld booze, what is it you do?"

Lee nods down the bar where Kara's talking to someone else.

"Kara and I are fighter pilots, this is a pretty welcome vacation from risking our lives day in and day out."
