It's not Remembrance Sunday in Sam's world. That's about six months away, for her -- it's the end of May on the other side of the door. But there's plenty to be thinking about at the moment as it is. The British Expeditionary Force and their French allies are in trouble in France, and the call has gone out for any ship capable of braving the waters of the Channel. Right now, Royal Navy destroyers, merchant ships, fishing trawlers, lifeboats, and even luxury yachts are working to evacuate men from the beaches at Dunkirk.

And so Sam's foregone the tea this evening. As much as she's not fond of just sitting around and knitting, she is taking full advantage of her most recent visit to Milliways to sit near the fire and finish turning the heel on the second of a pair of khaki socks.
