[OOM: Artemis' priestesses aren't exactly known for being the most pleasant women in the world, but under the right circumstances, they can lend a hand, even to men.

And after a long walk and a long boat ride, Wells finally does what he should've done in the first place.]

The door opens on fire and shadow. The man who steps through is still ( Read more... )

Someone hobbles up.

And grabs Harry's arm to pull him to a table.

"What the- oh!"

Well, c'mon, it's not like he's gonna swear at this guy or anything, now is he.

He nods and waits till Harry is sitting.

"Not letting this happen again," he says quietly.

It doesn't take long. Wells settles into his chair and looks up. "How were you planning on that?" he asks. "I don't even know what fucking happened."

That gets a Look.

He's a god. He doesn't make a point of it often, and he's not much of a god, but he's still a god, dammit. And if he can't even keep an eye on one of his followers, then what kind of a god was he, exactly?

He pulls out a box.

"Tracking device. Should have thought of it before."

"Ah, right," says Wells; he'd been thinking of being kept from being yoinked out of the Bar. He reaches for the box. "That makes sense."

He'd rather know where Harry is at all times. After all, who knows when something could throw him around in time and space? Out of the bar is a little too restrictive.

"If you make a quick cosmic shift, I'll know. And be able to get you."

He opens the box. And there seems to be nothing in there.

Seems being the operative word.

After all the shit that's happened lately, Wells knows better than to assume this is the case. He's going to peer really, really closely at the box, instead. Smelling's probably useless, though.

He reaches in and picks out the tiniest little pinprick of a spot.

"A flea."

He looks at Wells.

"You don't mind?"

"I don't see why I should," says Wells. "It beats the shit out of the ink I got from Athena."

...that is not a happy look. That is, in fact, a not happy look.

"She did what?"

Oh someone just screwed themselves. Someone just screwed themselves so badly.

Silently, Wells unbuckles the bracer on his left forearm. It's not a bad tattoo of a snake, really. It's just the kind of thing that you wish you didn't have because who the fucking hell knows where Apollo's temples are these days, anyway?

That is the volcano look on his face. The 'I'm going to erupt on someone suddenly, violently, and in a way which will make them regret things' sort of way.

"I see."

Push him around, fine. Fuck with his friend, one of his only friends... oooh, she was not going to be a happy goddess for some time.

He swallows nothing at all.

"Do you want to keep it?" he asks quietly. A little too quietly.

Yes, Wells, this is the god who's pissed off on your behalf. You matter to him very very much.

"It was my own fault," says Wells, who's fresh from learning that it's usually your own damn fool mistakes that fuck you over when you're up to your eyes in gods. "I shouldn't've mouthed off to her about you."

If by 'mouthed off' you mean 'one use of the word 'bitch',' anyway.

"I don't mind the mark but I'd rather it not try and burn my fucking arm off every time I get anywhere near Apollo's sanctuaries, if you don't mind."

He inspects it critically.

"Give me a day and she'll lift that curse."

He was going to be Talking with her. Using not just his Out Loud voice, but his VERY loud voice.

"The flea," he says, still quiet, "will make sure I know what's going on with you."

He pulls out another box.

"And as I'm sure Annie would have grabbed me if she could--"

It's a stunning ring made of deep rose gold with obsidian chips inlaid in the band.

"For her. To call me."

"Annie's going to love that," says Wells, "even before she hears about the extra. You might want to start adding onto your pantry, all things considered."

He pauses.

"Thank you."
