Winter is quickly coming to Smallville. Winter means a lot of things to many people. For Chloe Sullivan, it means an excuse to drink more coffee and coffee-related products than normal. No matter how crappy the Kansas winter got, she never complained about it, just for that reason ( Read more... )

"Hey, Sullivan. Long time no see." Knox is actually very glad to see the future of annoying investigative reporter. But his tone sounds merely interested. He's got a bowl of soup, his onw cup of coffee, and a coat to match hers dripping on the floor.

[occ: not around terribly long as Rosh Hashanah nears, but had to welcome Chloe back]

Chloe smirks, eying the coat with amusement. "Winter time in Gotham too, Knox? Gotta tell you, that's definitely another thing we have Gotham beat at."

"Winter? Nah, it's just November. Just wait till January gets rolls along. It's cold and snow every day for two months. Traffic's in knots, everyone's freezing. I love it." He hates it. But rivalries trump even that. "Metro can only get so lucky when Luthor's got his snow gun running."

"Luthor? Snow gun?" Chloe raises an eyebrow, giving Knox a look of pure doubt. "Riiight. I always knew that world of yours was screwed up."

"I didn't tell you about that? Luthor escaped again - he's the master of revolving door justice - and built a weather control gadget. Basically, it was a gigantic snow gun. And he pointed it right at Metro on April Fool's Day. Guess he was jealous of the Joker. Next thing we know, Metro AND Gotham are snowbound for a week.

"Supes helped with the clean-up. So did Bats. And Supes even made Lexie apologize. Sorta. He apologized to Gotham. The man is, as you put it, screwed up."

Superman...and of course, if he mentions Supes when talking to her, he has to wonder if she knows.

"...and I'm actually supposed to believe all of that?" Chloe shakes her head. "Lex Luthor may not exactly be the pinnacle of good and truth, but he's not a mad scientist. You might be barking up the wrong tree with this one, Knox."

"You think I'd make this stuff up?" He pauses. If she were here when he WAS making stuff up about the Joker's Daughter, she'd be right to suggest that. "Look, I'll prove it.

"Bar, Gotham City PM, April 4, 1990." And sure enough, the Bar produces a newspaper with headline "SUPERMAN CAPTURES SNOW KING LUTHOR." And on the front page is a photo of someone who doesn't look like the Clark in the Bar, escorting a middle aged man with a bad redhaired wig to a jail cell.

Chloe shakes her head. "I'm still not sure if I can believe that. Lex doesn't wear wigs."

"Hey, if it's in the papers, it must be true." He smirks. "I was there. Spent two weeks on the go covering the aftermath. Even almost met Supes." He makes the smirk fade. He so wants to ask, but Kara would kill him.

"And what have you been up to?"

Chloe has her suspicious about the man in that photograph. But she made a promise to Clark, and it's one she's going to keep. So she quickly turns her attention away from the paper and back to Knox.

"Work, visiting Riley. The usual."

"Any big scoops?" He has no intention of asking her much about her boyfriend. And if Clark misses out on her, it's his loss.

"Not really. It's been sort of quiet lately." Chloe shrugs, thinking it over. "I guess everyone's still adjusting to the post-Thanksgiving weight."

"I still have a couple of week till Thanksgiving. Still time to make plans, I guess. Though then I get to celebrate it again here. Same with Halloween. And Christmas." That last one makes him smile.

"Getting to repeat the holidays is totally one of the best things about this place," Chloe agrees. "Okay, that and the people you meet here."

"And maybe that you get to repeat the holidays with the people you meet." He wonders if it's time to bring a date to Lynne Vega's hoiday get-togethers. "I had two Christmases last year and got two sets of gifts. Though the one here, that was special." There's that smile again.

"All you really have to do is bring them home with you." Chloe beams. "Three Thanksgivings in total this year and all with Riley. It's going to be great."
