The party hadn't been unexpected. The vast volumes of alcohol, the magical indoor fireworks (lots of light, no heat) and the flying, singing 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TEDDY' banners had all been mild surprises, but he'd managed to work past them (even if the banners - with their surprisingly large, gaping, salivating and clothy mouths and nothing that looked like eyes, swimming after him through the air and singing cheerful songs in warbling tones - freaked him out more than a little.)
The bar in the boys' dormitory, however, is a real surprise. Enough so that as Teddy enters, his hair goes from red and gold to a stark, bright white, before settling back to brown. A moment's peering around, and he notices that of all the patrons, he can't actually see any Hogwart's students.
"Er. Guys?" Teddy calls over his shoulder, through the open door.
The answer doesn't come from a student.
"Haaaaappy biiiiiiirthday to yooooouuuuuuu, haaaaa - ..." Teddy closes the door on the banner, quickly, and turns to look at the bar, utterly confused.
[Note: And I'm going to get some sleep, so slowtime, and I'll pick up threads tomorrow.]
