There's a policemanofficer in the bar.

Danny's off-duty, though, way way way off-duty, and he's having dinner by himself (although he'd rather be having dinner with Nicholas right now but apparently Milliways didn't see fit to pull them in together like usual so WHATEVS) of a nice steak-and-veggie pasty with a side of baked beans. He's also ( Read more... )

"Don't see so many football sweaters here," Ajedrez comments idly. She has her normal gun on her hip, but the way she wears it suggests that she doesn't even notice it anymore.

...Did somebody say 'football'?

Danny turns to the young woman omg there are so many cute girls in Milliways. "Count mine among the few, then," he says with a friendly grin, but he's very briefly distracted when he sees the gun on her hip. Then again, he's noticed that lots of people come through here with different kinds of weapons. "Are you a fan?"

"Of football? Si! My team's Los Dorados de Sinaloa, though. Mexican."

He can hardly contain his giddiness!

"Mexico, huh? Nice! They always do great in the World Cup." He points to the logo on his shirt. "Bristol Rovers, from England. Fight, fight where ever we shall be/We are the boys from the West Country!"

"I am ignoring the fact that last World Cup we lost to the Americans." Here that? It totally didn't happen.

Of course, she comes from 2003, so her last World Cup is probably different from his.

Still, his song gets her grin back.

"Good. Milliways needs more football."

Every football fan knows the sting of defeat, and he nods empathetically.

"Everywhere needs more football, as far as I'm concerned."

He holds his hand out. "I'm Danny Butterman, Sandford Police Service."

And to the Americans...

She takes his hand and shakes it.

"Beatriz Ajedrez, federal officer of Mexico."

"Ohh, well that explains the firearm, then," he says, glancing at her gun. "Get to use it much?"

"Yeah, I do. Mexico's fun. Course, I've been Bound for ten months, so pretty much just the target outside."

"Ten months? Wow, sorry 'bout that. Can't imagine what that'd be like... Good thing you've got target practice to let off some steam, eh?"

"Oh, very much so. And, you? Bound or free?"

"I...I s'pose I'm free. I can still see the door I came through, so..." He shrugs.

"So, this firing range outside... I might hafta check that out some time. Our police station's being rebuilt at the moment so we don't have a place for target practice -- I mean, not that we use guns or anything, y'know. But I think it'd just be nice to fire off a few rounds. I ain't done that sort of thing in a couple months, and I guess I'd like to see if I'm still any good at it."

"You don't use." She stops, and rubs her head. "Well, I guess Britain is a bit more lawful than Mexico."

"Well, we've certainly got crime, it's just that our police don't carry guns, 'cept for special divisions. I tried to get my partner to explain to me why we don't all carry 'em, but I forgot exactly what he said. Anyways, he ain't too keen on 'em, but it's funny, cos he's an amazing dead-eye shot."

He pauses, his curiosity piqued. "So...you've seen some action, then?"
